Recruitment

Have you ever thought about what you could do to help others in your community? Have you ever heard a siren or seen a fire engine, and wondered what was happening? Have you ever witnessed or come upon a motor vehicle accident and wished you could help? Are you looking for new friendships, challenges, and rewards? The fire service is one of the most diverse and challenging vocations today. It is this diversity that attracts most men and women to join our ranks.

The lifeline of any fire department is its members.  Who are these people?  They are men and women from all walks of life and professions.  They give something to their community that money can’t – themselves, their time, their talent, and their care and concern for their community.  Serving your community as a firefighter not only provides personal self-satisfaction, but is an educational experience.

The Hermitage Fire Department has openings for responsible individuals who would like to give something back to the community. Here is your opportunity to become a part of what has been termed “the noblest of all professions.” We offer an extensive training program that teaches lifesaving skills and can be a foundation for career opportunities in the future. Individuals who have gone through our program have become career firefighters, paramedics, nurses, police officers, etc. Some of these individuals received scholarships for higher education based on their activities as a member of our organization.
